Role of Essential Oils in Spices in Killing Germs

Essential oils are the characteristic features of spices, as they are the ones which provide aroma and flavor to the spices. These essential oils are of high medicinal value. These are found to have many disease curing properties and hence they are used in treatment of many diseases. The essential oils are also popular for their anti bacterial and anti fungal properties, hence they are referred as germicides.

Various researches were also conducted in this aspect. The essential oils are found to fight efficiently against disease causing bacteria such as E.Coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Staphylococcus, Candida, etc.

Some of the essential oils of spices, which are found to have anti-germ, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties are clove oil, rosemary oil, oregano oil, garlic oil, pepper oil, allspice oil, etc. These oils when are administered in anyway in to the body are found to have healing effect on the body. These oils are found to kill germs resulting in food poisoning and many other gastro intestinal problems.

On the whole, essential oils are considered as efficient germ fighting compounds.
