Warehouses uses different types of barcode labels based on the requirements and the storage items. They are four essential types of barcode labels employed in warehouses. They are:
  • Location Barcode Labels: These barcode labels are used for identifying the items in a warehouse. They are mainly used to recognize the location of a specific item. They are generally fixed on shelves and have recorded numeric codes which is known to warehouse owner. Every location barcode label comes with durable adhesives in order to make it readily stick to the side of shelves, racks etc.
  • Reflective Barcode Labels: These barcode labels consists of a series of barcode that can be easily read. They are generally very large and can be scanned easily from a far distance. They are generally placed on a wall or hung from the ceiling. They are generally made up of metal for durability or persistence purposes.
  • Floor Barcode Labels: These barcode labels are generally stuck on floors and comes with a extremely durable adhesives in order to permanently fix them on the floor. They are generally made of metal like steel and aluminum in order to withstand the damage due to long term vehicular traffic inside the warehouse and chemicals etc
  • Pallet Barcode Labels: Pallet barcode labels are the most common barcode labels observed in a warehouse. They are generally used to tag pallets or crates which are transported from one location to another location. They are made strong and durable in order to withstand industrial conditions and are generally made of metals similar to floor labels.
All four types of warehouse barcode labels are generally printed using a alpha numeric code in a particular order based on the warehouse owner's preferences. They are mostly printed with thermal transfer printers as it makes the barcode labels to be more precise and clearer.
