Know How to Identify Drug Addicts

Drug abuse and drug addiction are the major issues prevailing in the present society. Most of the teenagers are getting addicted to this harmful things very easily. Many people who know the adverse affect of these drugs are also abusing drugs in the same way as the others do. It seems like they are not bothered about their future but the only thing they are craving for is the excitement they are getting under drug influence. Drug addiction when caught in the primary stages can be reduced by giving necessary treatment to the abusers. But the most important thing here is the identification. Drug addict might be your friend, spouse, child, or anybody whom you care. So, there is a need for you to check if they are getting addicted to drugs. Here are some signs which can be found in a person addicted to drugs.

The behavior of the individual is the major thing here. There is a definite change in the persons behavior who is abusing drugs. The addicts like to spend alone apart from the family and that too for long hours. They tend to go out with out informing and will return after long durations. Check whether they are spending unusual times in the bathrooms. They either suddenly have new circle of friends or be cut off from their usual friends. These are the signs which we can see in the initial stages of drug addiction. If proper care has taken during this time there is a lot of chance to recover. Family members should take active part for the ones they care the most.

The later signs of drug addiction appear only when the abusing continues from a long time. These effects can be shown both physically and mentally. Some physical changes include dilated pupils and rapid darting of eyes, weight loss, tooth decay, sores on skin which last for long time, frequent sweating, needle marks on arms, thirst, scabs on arms, face and legs etc.

Some behavioral and mental changes are like fighting behavior, aggressiveness, constant rambling conversation, hallucinations, depression, sexual promiscuity, doing the same things again and again, sleeping for long days etc.

If you find any of the above changes in any person its better to help him to get out of it. The earlier the better. It is better to know by ourselves before anybody tells us about our loved ones. Effects of Drug Abuse On Teenage Behavior

Now-a-days teen drug abuse has become very common. Teens behavior also changes with the effect of drugs. Some of the behavioral changes associated with drug abuse are:
  • Unusual behavior than the normal behavior
  • Loss of interest towards career
  • Less performance in the school grades and performance
  • Showing anger and even irritability towards parents
  • Spending lot of time with friends
  • Decrement in the responsibility
  • Changing friends and does friendship with different groups of people
  • Changes in the physical appearance such as paleness in eyes and even face becomes red and even eyes become reddish color
  • Changes in habits of eating and sleeping
  • Even the spirit of participating in sports also decreases
  • Sitting isolated and want to be lonely
  • Spending a very little time at home
  • Coming home drunk
  • Increment of violence and even becoming emotional and even behave moodily
  • Huge changes in the weight
  • Stealing expensive things and even money from home
  • Lying etc.

These are some of the behavioral changes which a parent should observe when their teens who are abusing drugs. As a parent you need to suggest them not to consume the drugs but never overreact. Directly don’t check their belongings or never check directly by going into their room, if you are found wrong then it may lead to the failure of trust between you and your child. Make the teen to know you are their well wisher and you care about them. Tell them clearly about the harmful drug effects which are both short term and long term and even its effect on the relationships. Then take him/her to the counseling program to get the treatment.
