What are Interpersonal Skills?

Interpersonal skills are the skills that a person uses to communicate effectively with other people either individually or in groups. These skills not only include how we communicate with others but also confidence, ability to listen and ability to understand.

Good interpersonal skills can improve many aspects in your life. Everyone need to improve interpersonal skills as the persons having good interpersonal skills are successful in both personal and professional lives.

Active listening also comes under interpersonal skill. A person who pays full attention to the speaker not only communicates well but also respects others. Good interpersonal skills reduce stress, increase understanding and increase communication.

Interpersonal skills help people deal with others. Communication skills, anger management skills, assertiveness skills, conflict resolution skills all these comes under interpersonal skills.

Interpersonal skills help the person do team work to achieve the goals.

Interpersonal skills help the person build confidence.

Effective listening: Communication skills not only includes speaking but also listening effectively.

Questioning: Ask questions yourself and use maximum number of questions which helps to maximize the relevant information.

Assertiveness: It is considered as an important skill to any person as they will have the ability to resolve the conflicts and avoid negative conflicts.
  • Don't feel nervous as it effects the clarity of the message. Just be relax.
  • Show interest on the topic and in the people you talk to. Ask questions and clarify the doubts.

Everyone can develop good interpersonal skills if they practice communicating effectively.
